Immune function is a pretty popular topic these days and for good reason! With many of us helping out our elderly parents or neighbors it’s extremely important to stay healthy. In conjunction with a healthy diet, a restful night’s sleep and a mind-body practice, getting regular exercise can help reduce inflammation and boost your immune system. One study from UC San Diego found:
“Inflammation is a vital part of the body’s immune response. It is the body’s attempt to heal itself after an injury; defend itself against foreign invaders, such as viruses and bacteria; and repair damaged tissue.”
Here are four ways that we love to keep inflammation down and immunity up.
- Dig into a Podcast while on a walk, some of our favorites are:
- Oprah: Super Soul Conversations
- Brene Brown: Unlocking Us
- Brene Brown: Dare to Lead
- Glennon Doyle: We can do hard things
- Have a High School Music Reunion Dance Party, think about a song from your youth and have Spotify or Pandora make a radio station around it. You might be surprised at how many words you still know!
- Download an Audiobook, this is a great time to check out your local library’s audiobook selection or get a loan from a friend via Audible or through your Amazon Prime subscription. Learn, laugh, or cry choose what suits you during this time.
- Take a Pilates Class with Gainesville Yoga + Pilates. If you feel like your immune system can use a boost, schedule a personal class immune-boosting class, customized just for you!
